Miki Magasiva
Miki was born in Lefagoali’I, Savaii, Western Samoa. Like many other Samoans, Miki’s parents migrated to New Zealand for a better life and opportunities for their family.
Miki started his film career in Wellington, New Zealand, as a 16-year-old actor working in commercials and television. He studied film & television and worked globally, gaining experience in many disciplines. The directorial debut came in 2003, with a set of award-winning commercials. Miki has dedicated over 20 years to film and television directing short films, music videos, television and commercials.
Miki is well known for converting the most amusing, bold or absurd scripts into unique pieces of storytelling. He possesses a natural sense of pace for drama and comedy. With his proven expertise in directing everything from moving aesthetic masterpieces to thoughtful comedic gems, Miki's work embraces his scriptwriting abilities, love of performance, and highly polished storytelling craftsmanship.
His ultimate passion has always been film, and Miki looks forward to telling stories inspired by a rich cultural history and from the unique perspective.
